Testing and Failure Analysis
PE COI together with other A*STAR RIs, houses a wide range of state-of-the-art diagnostic and testing equipment. The equipment cover areas such as functional tests, dimension measurement, and material properties analysis. Companies working with SIMTech in co-development of new processes would be able to make full use of the equipment. SIMTech also provides services to companies wishing to use the equipment for specific test or measurement.
Pilot Production
With the COI’s extensive equipment, the industry would be able to take advantage of them for prototype development of new projects (e.g. test machining a new part or product, making of first articles) and even carry out small batch trial run before full-blown production in the company’s own shopfloor. Companies would be able to make full use of the equipment, manpower and diagnostic facilities in SIMTech to insure the manufacture of quality parts.
Business & Enterprise Integration
In order to help PE companies to compete globally through collaborative supply chains, the centre will undertake the following tasks:
- Provide better visibility of the PE community in terms of capabilities
- Facilitate formation of value-chain, business alliances to compete in the global market. The Value Chain will be able to work and collaborate together using IT as an enabler
- Improve response time in securing projects through the portal
- Provide expertise on what it takes to go into new sectors; e.g. be a supplier to med-tech, aerospace, automotive
- A hyper-mart concept with an entire chain (design, mould making, forming, machining, coating, etc.) with technology development to plug gaps.
