The main objective of the O&G initiative is to develop indigenous fusion, welding, cladding, deep hole gun drilling, boring and trepanning capabilities on exotic material in order to attract new range of high performance and corrosion resistant oilfield equipment to Singapore.

Activities
- Exotic material welding/cladding/NDT capability development for protection of surface/sub-sea oilfield components.
- Queen-bee led joint technology development initiative for the automated deposition, fusion and monitoring of tungsten carbide, Inconel and Stellite.
- Industry-wide capability development in straightness control for offset deep hole boring and gun drilling of Ni alloys and non-magnetic material with high aspect ratio.
Capabilities & Facilities
- Indigenous and international experts for the determination of gun drilling, boring, cladding and welding parameters for noble material.
- Fibre laser, Arc and Laser Aided Additive Manufacturing Equipment for: Stainless Steels; Titanium Alloys; Superalloys; Tungsten carbide; and Non-magnetic material.
- Defects, micro-hardness and micro-structure characterization of cladded/welded material.
