Dr. Khong Heng Poh
Dr Khong specialises in machine tools, data storage, and automation, with over 30 years of experience.
Dr Khong joined the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech) in June 2010 focusing mainly on developing and strengthening the technical capabilities of the local supply chain to support the Aerospace and Marine & Offshore industries. Prior to joining SIMTech, he spent nearly four years in Rolls-Royce (RR), gaining experience and knowledge of the RR Fuel Cell Technology, Marine and Aero-Engine Fan Blade Manufacturing Engineering as well as its networking and systems. He has held senior management positions in manufacturing operations and R&D in major MNCs. Other experiences include: In-depth knowledge of Machine Tools; Hands-on experience in manufacturing, directly applicable to high-volume manufacturing issues; Research collaboration with universities and other research organizations; Technical evaluation of equipment & tooling suppliers; Regional working experience in China and Malaysia and other overseas working experience involving technology transfer from USA and UK.

Concurrently, an Adjunct Professor at the Nanyang Technological University, School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering since 2008, he co-supervises post-graduate projects and lectures in Systems and Project Management applied to Manufacturing as well as lectured in Computer-Integrated-Manufacturing and Logistics. A Registered Professional Engineer, Singapore; Chartered Engineer, UK and Member of the IMechE, UK, he graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manchester, UK and also holds a PhD in Machine Tool Controls from the same university.
